# The first 30 days

> A week-by-week plan to improve the agent with real conversations: what to look at, what to fix, and when to add channels and automations.

The first month is when the agent improves the most. Ten minutes a day and half an hour a week are enough.

**Week 1** — Fix the answers. → **Week 2** — Look at the numbers. → **Week 3** — Open more channels. → **Week 4** — Automate.

## Every day: 10 minutes

- Open Chat agent › Conversations and read the new chats. With All filters and then “Unread” you find the ones nobody has opened yet.
- Answer the customers who asked for a person: in the “Chat status” column choose “Waiting for operator”, open the chat, press Take control and, when you're done, Hand back to AI. See [Stepping in as an operator](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/conversations/take-over.md).
- Fix answers that are wrong, too long or in the wrong tone: how to do it is in week 1, below.
- If you use the phone, open Voice agent › Calls and look at the “Unsuccessful” and “Transferred” calls.
- If you see a channel in “Error” or a “Failed” training, start from [Troubleshooting](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/help/troubleshooting.md).

## Week 1: fix the answers

In the first week you discover the questions you hadn't expected. For each wrong answer:

1. **Find out where the answer comes from**
In the conversation, above the answer, press the Knowledge Base label: the “Knowledge base” panel shows the “Cited contents”, that is, the training sources the agent used. If you need the full path of the answer, including the tools it used, press Execution details under the customer's message instead. See [Why the agent answered that way](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/conversations/why-this-answer.md).

2. **Fix it in the right place**
Where to fix it, case by case: [When an answer is wrong](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/chat-agent/test-and-publish.md#when-an-answer-is-wrong). For the voice agent, you fix the prompt: see [Prompt & Instructions](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/voice-agent/prompt.md).

3. **Check**
Ask the same question again in the test chat, with Test Chat, and check that the answer has changed.

> **Tip**
>
> **Keep a list of new questions.** A question that comes up three times deserves an FAQ with the exact answer.

## Week 2: look at the numbers

Open the agent's Dashboard and choose “Last 7 days” in the period selector. Next to each figure, “vs prev.” compares it with the previous week.

### Chat agent

| If you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| Few “Conversations” | Make the chat more visible: welcome bubble, suggested questions, a link in your emails. |
| “Autonomy” going down | Read the chats handed over to operators and add the information that was missing. |
| “Rating” going down | Read the chats rated “Negative”. |

### Voice agent

| If you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| A low “Answer rate” | In Calls, filter the “Unsuccessful” ones and read the [end reason](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/voice-agent/calls.md#successful-call-status-outcome-end-reason) of each one. |
| Few successful “Transfers” | Review the destination's “Availability” and waiting time. |
| Negative “Outcomes” | Listen to the calls marked “Unresolved” or “Abandoned”, or with a “Negative” customer sentiment. |

What each figure counts is explained in the chat agent's [Dashboard](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/chat-agent/dashboard.md) page and the voice agent's [Dashboard](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/voice-agent/dashboard.md) page.

## Week 3: open more channels

When the answers work well on your website, take the agent where your customers write to you. For each new channel, repeat the tests in [Before going live](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/getting-started/go-live.md).

- **WhatsApp**: [WhatsApp: connecting your number](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/integrations/whatsapp.md), then connect the agent to the channel.
- **Instagram and Messenger**: [Instagram](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/integrations/instagram.md) and [Messenger](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/integrations/messenger.md).

You can also add the [contact form](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/chat-agent/contacts.md), [automatic profiling](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/contacts/variables-profiling.md) and, on the phone, [in-call appointments](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/voice-agent/appointments.md) with Cal.com, Calendly or Google Calendar.

## Week 4: automate

Automations do the repetitive jobs you would otherwise do after a chat or a call. Start from a ready-made example:

- [WhatsApp confirmation and summary after the call](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/automations/examples.md#a-whatsapp-confirmation-and-summary-after-the-call).
- [Reminder the day before the appointment](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/automations/examples.md#e-reminder-the-day-before-the-appointment).

To write to many contacts at once, on WhatsApp or with the voice agent, there are [campaigns](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/campaigns/overview.md). Before you start, read [Consent and rules](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/campaigns/consent-and-rules.md).

## At the end of the month: usage and team

- In Account › Subscription, check how many messages, minutes, automation runs and campaign sends you have used, and decide whether your plan is the right one ([Plans, quotas and usage](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/account/plans-and-usage.md)).
- If a quota ran out before the end of the month, consider an add-on, which renews every month, or automatic purchase, which buys a pack valid until the end of the month ([Add-ons and automatic purchase](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/account/add-ons.md)). What restarts and what doesn't: [A monthly quota has run out](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/help/campaign-automation-issues.md#a-monthly-quota-has-run-out-what-stops-and-how-to-restart).
- In [Team, roles and permissions](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/account/team.md), check users and permissions: one user per person, and no access for anyone who no longer needs it.
- If you need an archive, export the month's conversations ([Exporting and deleting](https://supportfast.ai/en/guide/conversations/export-delete.md)).
