Workspaces and the console use the same 11 languages: Italian, English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil) and Serbian in the Latin alphabet.
#Workspace languages
You choose them in WorkspaceSettingsGeneral, in the “Languages and Localization” panel, Supported languages field.
A new workspace starts with the language of the person who creates it. The first workspace language is the first one in the Supported languages list. The workspace languages decide:
- which languages you write the chat texts and the chat agent's Playground in: each field has one tab per language, with its flag;
- which languages the widget on your website can appear in;
- which languages you can choose from for a voice agent's Main Language;
- the language of the conversation notification emails, which are sent in the first workspace language.
If you remove a language, the texts written in that language stay saved. See Workspace settings.
#The chat agent
The agent answers in the language of the customer's last message. This works for any language, even outside the workspace's 11.
- You can write the instructions in your own language: the agent still answers in the customer's language.
- You can train it with content in your own language: the agent translates the information it finds.
See Writing good instructions.
#The website widget
The widget's texts, that is, buttons, welcome, questions and privacy, appear in the language of the visitor's browser, if it is one of the workspace languages. Otherwise the widget uses English, if the workspace has it, or the first workspace language. So fill in the texts in all the workspace languages. See What visitors see.
#The voice agent
In the “General” step of the Agent profile, “Identity” panel, you choose two things:
- Main Language: the language the agent answers in. By default it is the first workspace language.
- Multilingual conversation: when it is off, the agent speaks only the main language. When it is on, the agent greets in the main language and then follows the caller's language.
Choose a voice that suits the language: the voices, and which ones to use for a language other than Italian, are in General: identity, voice and greeting. The summary the AI writes at the end of a call is in the first workspace language.
#The console
Each user chooses the language they read the console in, among the 11, in AccountProfile, Preferred language field. The console switches language as soon as you save; the agents' language stays the same.
Two Conversations tools also use your profile language: Summarise, which writes the conversation summary, and Translate, which translates a message. See Writing, attachments and tools.
#WhatsApp templates
You choose a template's language when you create it, among the workspace languages, and you can't change it afterwards. For the same template in another language, create a new template with the same name. See WhatsApp templates.
